John Herbert Orr Exhibit    DonateNow

John Herbert Orr was a pioneer in electronic sound recording technology. He was a local man, who as a child, had an advanced understanding of the radio broadcast medium. During WWII, his activities on behalf of the Allies uncovered the ground breaking radio research carried on by the Germans.

Armed with this information, Orr returned to the U.S. after the war and began the first of numerous companies that produced recording tape, players, Hi Fi speaker systems and even electronic player pianos.

This exhibit highlights Orr's inventiveness throughout his life.
